Peer Review Process

Journal of Nesia Social Science (JNSSc) applies a double-blind peer review: the identities of the reviewers and the authors are concealed from each other throughout the review. Reviewers are appointed by the editor from various universities and research institutions according to their expertise. All manuscripts are handled online through Open Journal Systems (OJS) in the following stages.

Review Stages

  1. Submission. The author submits the manuscript through the JNSSc OJS website using the journal template.
  2. Initial screening. The editor checks the manuscript's fit with the Focus and Scope, its compliance with the template and Author Guidelines, and the completeness of the files. Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements are returned to the author for correction or declined.
  3. Similarity check. The manuscript is checked with Turnitin. A manuscript with a similarity index above 20% is returned to the author for revision or rejected, depending on the extent of the overlap.
  4. Reviewer assignment. The editor sends the anonymized manuscript to at least two reviewers with relevant expertise. Reviewers confirm whether they accept the assignment within 10 working days.
  5. Peer review. Reviewers evaluate the manuscript using the JNSSc review form and submit their recommendation within four weeks of accepting the assignment.
  6. Editorial decision. Based on the reviewers' recommendations, the Editor-in-Chief decides to Accept, request Minor Revision or Major Revision, or Reject the manuscript. The decision is sent to the author through OJS.
  7. Revision. The author revises the manuscript according to the reviewers' comments and returns it, together with a response letter, within 30 days. Manuscripts with major revisions may be sent back to the reviewers for another round of review. Revisions received after the deadline may be treated as a new submission.
  8. Copyediting, layout, and proofreading. Accepted manuscripts are edited for language, style, and references, typeset into the final PDF galley, and proofread together with the author.
  9. Publication. The article is published online with immediate open access in the next available issue.

Review Criteria

Reviewers assess the manuscript's novelty and originality, relevance to the journal scope, soundness of the methodology, validity of the data and analysis, clarity of the results and discussion, scientific impact, consistency of the conclusions with the findings, and the currency and relevance of the references.

Final Decision

The Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision, taking into account the reviewers' recommendations and the journal's standards. When reviewers disagree, the editor may invite an additional reviewer. Authors who disagree with a decision may submit a reasoned appeal to the editorial office at ajurnalnesia@gmail.com.
